Who are we?
Leeds City Credit Union is a mutual, financial cooperative. We are also a community-focused organisation – with 25,000 members who all live or work in Leeds. Membership is exclusively available to people who live or work in the Leeds Metropolitan area.
What is a Credit Union?
Credit Unions are financial organisations that are run for the benefit of members – to provide access to ethical savings plans and affordable loans. We are not trade unions. The word ‘Union’ reflects our mutual status, meaning we are owned by our members and ‘united’ for a common benefit (just like many Building Societies used to be). Unlike banks, we have no shareholders, so profits are shared by our members.

Members just pay a nominal £5 administration fee to join. As part of our ethical approach, we encourage all members to make regular deposits into a savings account.
